Candygrams embodies the concept of Shibui
Shibui is a Japanese aesthetic concept that can be translated as "quietness," "simplicity," or "understatement." The idea is often associated with an approach that is understated, clean, and refined.
Candygrams was consciously designed and built around the Shibui concept.
First, Candygrams is simple to learn and play. The rules are straightforward and easy to understand, even for young children. This simplicity allows players to have fun and focus on the game, rather than on the rules. There are literally hundreds, perhaps thousands, of complex strategy games out there with rule books totaling dozens of pages. Candygrams is a welcome exception: “A minute to learn, a lifetime to master.”
Next, Candygrams is visually appealing. The game requires no board and can be played on any flat surface. The pastel colored tiles and dice are made using the highest quality components available, giving players a vintage feeling game that will hold up to a lifetime of play. Things that last are surprisingly simple.
And finally, Candygrams is fun and challenging. Each player uses their skill, creativity, and imagination to make words on their own anagram. Also, unlike other word games, Candygrams encourages players to interact with one another. After all, some of our best moments happen when we are all gathered around a table.
